Joe Patten

Joe Patten, AVP for Construction and Transportation Services

Joe Patten serves as the Assistant Vice President for Construction and Transportation Services within WVU Auxiliary and Business Services. In this role, Joe oversees the University’s capital projects program — averaging $100 million annually — as well as campus and space planning, classroom scheduling and transportation. Since joining WVU in 2005, he has held positions including Interim Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management, Executive Director of Design and Construction and Assistant Director of Administrative Services.

With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, spanning commercial, industrial and energy projects, Joe is a certified Project Management Professional and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. At WVU, Joe has led the transformation of the Evansdale Campus into a modern educational hub, adding six state-of-the-art buildings and enhancing pedestrian access across campus.
